For the Film: Coffee Quotes Buff

Coffee and film are an inextricably linked pair. Each one is a mental stimulant. While coffee aids in clarity of thought, films have the ability to alter our perspective on the world. Additionally, they both act as a catalyst for human interaction. How frequently have you met someone for coffee (whether it was an old friend or a new love interest)? And how many times have you gone to a movie on a first date or dressed up for an opening night screening with all your friends? These two wonderful pastimes cross paths so frequently that it's unsurprising that so many magical moments in film involve coffee. Therefore, fire up the coffee maker and peruse the following list of the top five coffee film caption and quotes:

1. The Frequently Assayed (1995)

"I recall picking beans in Guatemala when I was a child. We used to drink freshly brewed coffee directly from the vines. That was an excellent statement. This is utter nonsense, but I am in a police station."

Verbal Kint (Kevin Smith) is using coffee to distract the officers who are questioning him in this scene. Additionally, keep in mind that one of Verbal's best lies originates with Inspector Kujan's (Chazz Palminteri) coffee cup. He derives the name of Keyser Söze's alleged lawyer, Kobayashi, from the cup's label. Best...movie...ever. Not to mention, a great reference to coffee.

2. Pay Attention to Who Is Speaking (1989)

"This is your first coffee lesson," James explained. It is pure black coffee, devoid of flavour. Can you say "coffee in its natural state"? There is also regular coffee. This requires two sugars and milk, both of which they have forgotten; may I borrow some of yours? Regular cup of coffee."

James (John Travolta) uses coffee to connect with Mikey in this scene (the baby). This demonstrates that it is never too early to educate future coffee drinkers!

3. Express Yourself (1989)

"I am unable to maintain any sort of social life at the moment," Diane explained.

"Do not be concerned; we are simply having coffee." Lloyd: We're going to be opportunistic."

Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) is courting Diane Court (Ione Skye), and his offbeat remarks, such as this one, keep her interested. This is an excellent example of how a steaming cup of coffee can bring people together.

4. Take to the skies! (1980)

"Jim never drinks a second cup of coffee at home," Mrs. Hammen explained.

This quote demonstrates how advertising has permeated popular culture, as it clearly refers to older Folger's coffee commercials in which a husband, dissatisfied with his wife's coffee, switches to Folger's and falls in love.

5. Female Employee (1988)

"May I procure something for you?" Cyn inquired. Coffee? Tea? Me?"

This is an excellent illustration of the equivalence between a coffee offer and an invitation to...something more.

BONUS: The Sequel to Airplane II (1982)

Stewardess: Excuse me, passengers; the plane is about to crash and we may be slashed into tiny, teensy, weensy fragments. Oh, and we're out of coffee, by the way. (screams from passengers)"

I had to include this one because, honestly, haven't we all felt this way when we're deprived of our coffee?
