The Top 5 Commercial Carpet Cleaning Methods

While you have many options when it comes to selecting a carpet cleaning company for your home or business, it is critical to understand the various types of carpet cleaning procedures used by various businesses because not all methods will work for your carpet.

The various types of carpet cleaning (Carpet cleaning Fulham)  available on the market are as follows:

Hot Water Extraction Cleaning

Hot water extraction cleaning, also known as steam carpet cleaning, agitates the carpet fibers and removes contaminants from the carpet by using highly pressurized hot water.

In general, hot water extraction cleaning entails applying a cleaning solution to the dirty area, agitating the carpet with a brush, and rinsing. After allowing the cleaning agent to settle in the carpet for a short time, the carpet will be "washed" by a carpet cleaning machine to completely rinse the cleaning agent before being allowed to dry in a room or air-conditioned environment.

A 3000 square foot carpeted office takes about 2 hours to clean and at least 4 hours to dry. Most businesses recommend cleaning carpet in the late afternoon so that it can dry overnight and office operations can resume as usual the next morning.

Cleaning of carpets

Until the 1970s, when encapsulation technology was introduced, shampoo carpet cleaning was the norm. While shampooing appears to clean heavily soiled carpet, the disadvantages of the technology – leaving a large number of wet foam residues in the carpet that takes a long time to dry, becoming sticky when it dries because no rinsing is done after shampooing, and rapid re-soiling of carpet – make it less popular than others.

Encapsulation

Because synthetic detergents are used as a foundation, foam encapsulation crystallizes into powder when it dries. Loose dirt particles in carpet fiber will be trapped in powder as the cleaning foam dries, and can then be vacuumed or brushed away.

Because it uses less water during cleaning, the foam encapsulation cleaning technique has surpassed carpet shampooing technology, resulting in a faster drying time than carpet shampooing. Foam encapsulation cleaning has been endorsed by those who advocate for the use of environmentally friendly solutions because it leaves less chemical residue behind after cleaning than carpet washing.

Although this method produced good cleaning results, due to technological limitations, it was unable to completely clean heavily soiled carpet.

Bonnets Cleaning

Cleaning the top section of the carpet fiber with high-duty motorized equipment and a spinning pad soaked in a cleaning solution to absorb dirt from the carpet surface produces good surface cleaning results.

Bonneting is popular in hotels because it provides a quick fix option for cleaning carpet in high traffic public areas where the carpet needs to be cleaned without much moisture and dried quickly to avoid disruption to hotel guests.

Because bonneting does not clean the carpet deeply, dirt beneath the carpet quickly emerges to the surface, causing the carpet to become dirty again. Chemical residue accumulates in the carpet as a result of bonneting, as the pressure from the heavy machine on the spinning pad pushes the applied chemical and residual debris into the carpet.

Dry Carpet Cleaning

Dry carpet cleaning, also known as compound washing, is a relatively new cleaning method that has gained acceptance and approval from major carpet manufacturers due to its superior cleaning performance and ease of use (it does not require drying time).

Since its introduction in the 1980s, the market has seen the introduction of a number of cleaning compounds and powders. Many people are skeptical of this technique's usefulness because it is considered relatively new in comparison to other traditional wet carpet cleaning procedures that have been trusted and used for decades.

The introduction of cleaning compound or powder into the bottom portion of the carpet with a motorized counter rotating brush machine to open up the carpet fiber and allow the compound to settle within, resulting in comprehensive deep carpet cleaning.

Cleaning compounds are typically made of biodegradable materials that act as micro-sponges, absorbing dissolved dirt in the carpet and being completely eliminated at the end of the procedure.

Different equipment manufacturers differentiate themselves by developing their own cleaning chemical or powder recipe and customizing the design and operation of their equipment.

Dry carpet cleaning is safe for all carpet types and is ideal for commercial offices that must operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week because office operations must not be disrupted during the carpet cleaning process.
